For the past 17 years, Pat Penny, this week’s #MountieSuperstar, has been working as a Secretary at Viola Elementary School. She began in the library and quickly moved to the school’s main office, where she supports the administration, engages with the students and interacts daily with parents and staff. Her kind and friendly demeanor, as well as her sense of humor, have helped to make her a vital part of the Viola School community and endeared her to hundreds of students, parents and faculty members during her time there.
Viola principal Mrs. Christine Druss refers to Pat as “the wind beneath her wings.” Despite the “organized chaos” of her desk, Pat takes great care in the details of planning and executing everything needed to make Viola a great place to learn and to work.
“She is always ready to make you laugh after a long day,” said Christine. “She works until the work is done, even if it’s beyond the school day, because it’s always about doing the job right and what’s best for our students. Anyone who is lucky enough to work with her will tell you that she will never let you down.”
Pat loves being a part of a fast-paced work environment and loves the students and the staff at Viola. “I’ve always felt like I won the lottery, working here,” Pat adds. “I am so thankful to be a part of this community, watch the students grow through the years, and work with such amazing individuals.”
