New York State Department of Education requires that, no matter what type of diploma is awarded to a graduate, all students must complete at least one credit in the arts. As the diploma requirements become more demanding, the number of fine arts credits increase. The state recognizes the value of studying the arts, whether for the impact on learning in other content areas, or for their intrinsic merit.

Suffern students are fortunate to have outstanding music and art departments, both of which offer a wide array of electives.

To view course catalogs, click the ➢ next to the fine arts department toggle menu at left and choose the link to either music or art department.

Due to icy road conditions, Suffern Central School District will be operating on a 2-hour delay today, Thursday, February 21. There will be NO elementary school for students, except for PM Pre-K, which should report at 12:15 pm. Elementary school staff should report on the 2-hour delay schedule and parent-teacher conferences will take place as scheduled this afternoon.
