Sex Offender Notification

The Sex Offender Registration Act, sometimes referred to as “Megan’s Law,” requires convicted sex offenders to register with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).

Periodically, our school district receives information from the Town of Ramapo Police Department and the Village of Suffern Police Department when they receive information from the New York State Sex Offender Registry that a resident in the community has been designated as a sex offender.  The law permits a school district that receives information pertaining to sex offenders to disclose or further disseminate such information.  Our Board of Education has decided that any information received from a police department regarding a sex offender living in the community should be shared with parents and the rest of the public on our web site.  The information we post is as provided to us by the local police departments.

Our Board of Education has decided to make available information on Level 2 and Level 3 sex offenders.  Further information concerning sex offenders and the meaning of the various levels is available at the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services web site.  See link below:
