Through Suffern High School’s Youth Assistance Program, 31 students visited the Sing Sing State Correctional Facility on March 21 with School Resource Officer Danny Lynch. The students toured the facility and spoke with inmates about how their bad decisions landed them in this facility.

“Most of the prisoners said they lost friends and family after going to prison and it is an experience no one wants to go through,” said Senior Mike Halper, who was on the trip. “Not only did they tell their own stories they told us to be ourselves. To take our own path into the future, not to try to be someone you are not, maybe leading you down the wrong path.”

Great advice and a great lesson for any young adult navigating their way into the future.
