Suffern Sure Has Talent!
On May 10th, the seats of Suffern Middle School’s auditorium were filled with students, staff, and families from across the District. They all gathered to witness the first ever, “Suffern’s Got Talent,” a talent-show produced entirely by the Foundations class at SMS as part of their project-based learning experience created by teachers Matt Jones and Ken Wojehowski. The night was a showcase of inspiration that left us feeling connected and proud to be in this Mountie family.
From the promotional flyers to the lighting and stage crew, the entire class planned and delivered the evening activities with excitement. The event was creatively emceed by Gracie P., featuring her own song and dance to start the show, and her classmates, Frank T., Jeshua D., Jamison E., Rosmeri A., Gabriel E., Sabrina D., and Anthony F. made sure the show ran smoothly. The students chose to also raise money for the Blythedale Children’s Hospital in Westchester, and after taking a field trip to the hospital earlier this month, they understood the importance of supporting such a great cause. The event was free, but they asked for donations from attendees and raised over $1700 for the hospital!
So many people were involved in making this event possible including District administration, Principal Brian Fox, Assistant Principal’s Danielle Castaldo and Melissa Monaco, the buildings and grounds department, custodial staff, and teachers Ms. Boehning, Ms. Haug, Ms. Lofberg, Mr. Morgan, Ms. Rossi, Mr. Lublanezki, Ms. Lum and Ms. Leuzzi.
And last, but certainly not least, the show couldn’t have gone on without all our talented performers! Juli Lorenzano, Alia Citerrio, Predeline Benoit, Hailey Mennell, Donovan Pelligrino, Sam Colton, Leo Nodelman, Jack Bosack, Mr. Yarrington, Meghan Simon, Michael Simon, Elizabeth Lodini, Eliana Panoff, and Mr. Jones – you were all incredible!
