Montebello Elementary School Principal, Dr. Teresa Ivey also took some time to reflect on her “why” as we wrap up our #NationalPrincipalsMonth campaign.

“When I became a teacher, it was out of a passion for teaching reading and writing and a commitment to ensure that every child in my classroom felt successful, confident, and inspired to be their best self. I wanted them to know that I believed in them and their unique talents and strengths were valued. This is the same reason I became a principal. Today, I am grounded in my philosophy of education, which reflects the health and well-being of the whole child, first and foremost. I want children to leave elementary school believing in themselves, knowing their worth, and understanding how resiliency, perseverance, and character can pave the way to a bright future.”
