Today’s #SeniorSpotlight shines on Sophie Park. A very active student at Suffern High School, Sophie is co-president of DECA, co-editor of the yearbook, and co-vice president of the National Honor Society. She was a member of the varsity lacrosse team for four years and helped the team get to the state semi-final championships in 2019. She also ran winter track and this year was a member of the ski team. Her school spirit was a great addition to the Heroes and Cool Kids Club, a program that offers mentorship to our middle school students, of which she was a part of, and she volunteered her time each month to the Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corps.
This year she was working with the administration to bring a therapy dog program to SHS, but due to the school closure, that program didn’t happen. Sophie saw a need to help recognize her fellow seniors and launched an Instagram that celebrated her peers and their plans for after graduation. It’s @suffernseniors2020 and to date has 145 students profiled. Visit their page on Instagram for a link to be included.
Her time at SHS has helped her cultivate a love of business and working with others and she’s excited to continue that passion at the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business. She hopes that while there she will try out for the women’s club lacrosse team alongside her sister who will be a junior on the team next year.
“My favorite memory of high school was the first day of my senior year. Little did I know that that was the first day of my best, most productive year. Whether it was selling ads for the yearbook, planning fundraisers for DECA, or using social media to highlight my peers, this was the most exciting time for me.”
We are still accepting submissions for our #SeniorSpotlight. Please send an email to email@example.com with information about your senior and their time in high school, their favorite memories of SHS, and what they plan to do after graduation, along with a photo.
