Can you name this emotion?

Mr. Jackson, the District’s K-5 School Counselor, used emojis as a way to launch into a discussion about emotional intelligence with Cherry Lane fifth-graders today. Teaching our students about understanding emotions and how to navigate through them is an important initiative across the District and today’s lesson was just the beginning. Students were asked to work together, pick various emotions and examine them to see how they impact our attention, affect our decision making, influence the quality of our relationships and how emotions are connected to our mental health and well being.

The conversations about emotional health never end, but this was a great start! Throughout the school year, Mr. Jackson will be pushing into all our K-5 classrooms to have these important conversations.
