Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
District-wide talk stresses the importance of getting to know individuals by name. Using the book, "What We Believe," by Lalena Garcia, students studied important lessons about feeling loved, safe, and seen while discussing inclusion, diversity, and acceptance. Students and families gathered to celebrate their cultural differences through food, music, art and conversation. Students learned important lessons of the past from Vietnam Veterans, who set up a living museum in the library. Elementary schools celebrate the diverse cultures of their students during dedicated evening events each spring. A luncheon for our new Spanish-speaking students was held at Suffern High School to help them better understand the school and meet new people. < >
