K-12 Social Work
The School Social Workers Association of America defines a school social worker as "trained mental health professionals who provide services related to a person's social, emotional and life adjustment to school and/or society. School Social Workers are the link between the home, school and community in providing direct as well as indirect services to students, families and school personnel to promote and support students' academic and social success.
At Suffern, our social workers are essential to the success of our students. Social workers are diligent in connecting students and families with the vast community resources available in Suffern and the greater Rockland County community. Social workers are also essential in identifying students' needs and helping our administrators create programs that promote the overall health, both physical and mental, or our students and families.
