Today we are shining the student spotlight on Nicholas Tjoa, a fourth-grade student at Montebello Elementary School for his continuous kindness and positive attitude in life. According to one of his teachers, “Nicholas embodies what it means to be kind, in every sense of the word. He is the truest gentleman, greeting all teachers and staff so beautifully every day; wishing everyone he meets a good day, a happy weekend, a wonderful holiday. He engages children in conversation who might otherwise be ignored and is always so considerate of others’ feelings. He happily requests to hold doors open for his classmates and teachers alike, regularly showing exemplary manners.”
In addition to being kind, Nicholas is a great student, loves math, and loves to swim. He is also a Boy Scout with Pack 23 and speaks fondly of his time with his group. When he’s not doing one of those things, he can be found assembling model cars or building with legos, as well as spending time with his family and grandparents.
When asked what it means to be a good friend, Nicholas responded, “To be nice, kind and just don’t be mean. “ He also added that “Montebello is a great school and I have a lot of good friends. I’m learning a lot, including how to use a protractor and multiplication and division.”
This week is also Nicholas’s birthday, so from all of us, Happy Birthday Nicholas! Keep on being kind!
