Gina Pepe is a Kindergarten teacher at RP Connor Elementary School. A few years ago she applied and received a grant from the REACH Foundation of Rockland that allowed her to purchase 24 yoga mats for her classroom. For Gina, it’s the gift that keeps on giving, as each year since her classes have received the benefits.

“Yoga helps children experience a sense of calm and relaxation which ultimately improves their concentration. Without my grant from the Reach Foundation, I would not have been able to help my students use yoga to bring their beautiful inner light, which all children have, to the surface.”

In addition to providing teachers across the whole district with grants that support learning, they also run a yearly STEAM Expo (this year on April 6), which is open to the public and showcases the grant recipients and other school and community programs that touch on science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Unfortunately, the REACH Foundation is at a crossroads and is in need of new volunteers to help run the programs and sit on the board. They are looking for parents that would like to have some involvement in their child(ren)’s education and have an interest in growing these amazing programs for years to come.
