It’s Day 2 of our #SchoolSocialWorker Spotlight and today we’re highlighting Jackie Frey. Jackie’s mission is to support and develop healthy coping skills for students through counseling and classroom activities. Working at RP Connor and Cherry Lane, Jackie meets with students and families to help empower them across a variety of situations and connect them to the resources they need.
“As a social worker, it’s my job to advocate on behalf of students and their families for whatever they need to be most successful. That includes academic and behavioral support and connecting them to any local resources they may need including the food pantry, social services, agencies that provide in-home care, and others.”
Jackie also works very closely with our ENL population to ensure their experience in school is positive. She helps parents build a connection between home and school life and has been instrumental in introducing our Yale EI/RULER initiative over the past two years.
