Kindness really does matter. For some, a simple gesture or smile can change a whole day. For Sloatsburg Elementary School fifth-grader, Kieran Guerrero, being kind is a no-brainer. “I just don’t think there is any reason to be mean. It feels good to be kind and make people happy.”

Today, we recognize and celebrate Kieran for our #Mountie#StudentSuperstarSpotlight. Kieran’s attitude towards life and kindness towards people embody our #MountiePride traits. He is an exemplary student and he goes out of his way to help others. As a mentor to the first graders, he is often found helping them get ready for the school bus, listening to their stories, and playing a variety of games together.

Kieran’s teacher, Ms. Nevins adds that “Kieran is always fair and respectful to his classmates and teachers, and is always willing to help others.”

Kieran loves geography and video games and watching youtube videos. He swims, does karate and is a boy scout – which allows him to be outdoors and explore the world. He is genuinely happy and makes others around him feel the same.

“I love Sloatsburg because it’s such a small town and everyone is friendly,” Kieran adds. “The teachers at my school are so nice, and it’s great to be at a school where everyone knows each other.”
