On Monday, May 20th, just under 100 students from Suffern High School visited the 9/11 museum and memorial in Manhattan. The students were accompanied by New York Fire Department Captain (67 Engine) Vinnie DiStefano, a first-responder on that tragic day. He spoke with the students about the morning, the rescue missions that ensued, the men and women that gave their lives, and those that survived. He answered their questions and provided a great framework for what they saw in the museum.
The students who attended were part of the high school’s AP Government, Participation in Government and Constitutional Law classes. We’d like to thank the Board of Education, The Suffern Police DepartmentDARE department, and Chestnut Ridge Transportation for making this field trip one that our students will not forget.
