Arianna Smith, a current Suffern High School sophomore, recently received an honorable mention from the distinguished Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This contest, open to teens (7th – 12th grades) around the country, celebrates students who show great skill and potential in their writing. Arianna found this opportunity while enrolled in Elizabeth Coletta’s Creative Expression class this past fall and submitted a short story she wrote about the complexities of a father-daughter relationship called “Our Time Spent Together.”

“My teacher came into my English class and told me I won,” Arianna recalled. “I thought she was joking and was in complete shock. I was never expecting this to happen.”

Arianna will be honored at a special ceremony on March 8th. Congratulations Arianna!
