Suffern Central Announces New Director of Safety and Special Projects
On Tuesday night, December 20, the Board of Education appointed current Suffern High School Principal, Pat Breen as the Director of Safety and Special Projects for Suffern Central School District. Breen will transition to this role on July 1, 2023 and will be responsible for overseeing District safety and security, future facilities planning, registration and more.
“I am really excited about Pat’s transition to this new role at the District level,” said Superintendent Dr. Gundersen. “Having a position focused on coordinating safety and security measures, as well as overseeing special projects is imperative as we continue to move this District forward. Pat has a strong history in Suffern and with his reputation and knowledge, I know he will bring a lot to the team.”
Announcing this transition early provides Suffern Central with a longer timeline for finding a new high school leader. Beginning in January, the District will lead focus groups and surveys, reaching out to staff, students and community members to get stakeholder input. The job will then be posted in February and interviews conducted in the following month, so that a new principal can be appointed and transition to the District for July 1, 2023.
Breen has been in the District for 27 years, 17 of which he served as an administrator for the high school. He will remain Suffern High School’s principal through the end of the 2022-23 school year. “I am looking forward to this new opportunity and for the chance to work closely with District administration to help pave the way for the future of Suffern Central,” he added.
For those interested in applying to the position, the posting will be available in early 2023.
