Best of luck to ninth-grader Samantha Greenhut and eighth-grader Alexa Ditore, who will represent Suffern Central on the Section 1 State Team on Saturday, March 2 at the State Gymnastic Competition. This is the first year both girls are representing the team and they couldn’t be more excited! Samantha is the Division 1 varsity gymnastics vault champ, received 2nd place as overall gymnast and on bars and is the Section 1 All-Around Champion. Alexa is the Division 1 varsity gymnastics floor champ and placed 2nd at Sectionals.
Both girls have been practicing gymnastics since they were toddlers and their favorite category is the floor, as it offers the most freedom and personality in the program.
“Gymnastics takes a lot more strength and stamina than you might think,” said Samantha. “I practice 6-days a week, 3 hours a day, but it’s worth it. We have a lot of fun.”
“Everything that’s happened in my life, is because of gymnastics,” adds Alexa. “It’s so fun, I can let loose and I don’t feel stressed at all.”
