This year, the Kindergarten students from Viola Elementary School are benefiting from a REACH Foundation of Rockland grant that provides them will a variety of engineering and tinkering activities including Lincoln Logs and Legos.

After reading the book, “The Three Billy Goats Gruff,” the students were tasked with designing and building their own bridges using Lincoln Logs. They were put in groups and then set free to be creative within the confines of a project, reinforcing the benefits of purposeful play.

To see more of these unique ways of learning, come to the STEAM Expo on April 6 at Suffern High School. It’s free and open to the community from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
