Show Choir
Show Choir (Constance Shearer)
Show Choir combines the art of fantastic singing and choreography to create a memorable performance. Show Choir is an auditioned group of 8th grade singers, instrumentalists, dancers and musicians. Focusing on jazz, broadway and popular genres of music, show choir is fun and fast paced.

The Podcast Club
The Podcast Club (Connor Mascola)
Create your own podcast alone or with a partner. Students will learn the effective strategies and skills of broadcasting and audio editing along the way.

Girls on the Run (Fall)
Heart & Sole Program

National Junior Honor Society

NJHS helps recognize and promote student achievement in the areas of scholarship, character, service, citizenship and leadership.

Kindness Crusaders
Kindness Crusaders (Nicole Perrier / nperrier@sufferncentral.org)
A student-run organization that is dedicated to improving positivity and kindness in Suffern Middle School and its communities. All projects and endeavors are ideas that students have; even the name of the club and its emblem were chosen by students during its first year, 2014!

SMS Robotics Club
For students who are interested in learning about robotics and for those ready for robotics competitions. There are also STEM-related subgroups available.

Youth Against Cancer
Youth Against Cancer (Liza Martin)
Youth Against Cancer is an organization designed to raise funds for cancer related charities and encourage students to participate in community outreach to assist those struggling with cancer.

Musicals
The 6th grade musical is open to all students in grade 6.
The 7th & 8th-grade musical is open to all SMS students in grades 7 & 8.

Student Council

Jazz Band
Jazz Band (Mr. Dave Yarrington)The SMS jazz band is an extracurricular group, open by audition to any instrumentalist in the middle school. We perform jazz standards and popular music and stress improvisation and soloing in concert. -
Green Team
Green Team (Mrs. Mena, Mr. Ficarella)
Made up of about 50 students from grades 6-8, the Green Team is dedicated to making our school, community, and planet a cleaner and better place. Team responsibilities and initiatives include:
- Recycling (approx 10,000 bottles and cans per month)
- Composting (approx 30 – 50 pounds of food scraps are collected at school every month)
- Park Clean-ups
- Team hikes and trips, and special events
- Gardening (using compost collected)
- Food donation (during harvest season, the team donates an average of 60 pounds of produce grown in our garden to local food pantries)
