Free Meals for All Suffern Students

  • We are pleased to announce that beginning November 1, 2023, Suffern Central School District will now provide FREE breakfast and lunch for all enrolled students in our District. This opportunity is available because the USDA recently expanded access to the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. As a result, schools participating in the National School Lunch and Breakfast programs can now offer school meals at no charge to all students while ensuring schools receive the equivalent of the free reimbursement rates for every meal.

We’d like to express our gratitude for the continued advocacy efforts of our food service department and the board of education. It’s great to know that all our students, regardless of individual circumstances, can now have access to meals during the school day.

    Highlights of the new program:

    • This program allows for only one meal per breakfast and one meal for lunch per student per day.

    • Specialty and a la carte items are not included in this program but are still available for purchase.

    • Students will still need to input their four or five-digit code when receiving their meals.

    • Parents who use the MySchoolBucks program to pay for meals and food items should take this time to review their accounts and adjust accordingly.

Parents are able to prepay for their child’s school meals with MySchoolBucks.com

Participation is open to all Suffern Central students, whether or not they use the prepayment option on the website. Once parents set up an account on MySchoolBucks.com, they will also be able to check account balances, set limits and review their child’s purchases. The MySchoolBucks app enables parents to manage their child’s meal accounts via iOS and Android mobile devices. Links to the App Store and Google Play can be found at the bottom of the MySchoolBucks login page. Credit card prepayments can be made with MasterCard, Visa or Discover; a $1.95 fee will be charged for each credit card transaction. Parents who prefer to pay by check will continue to submit payments directly to their child’s school cafeteria or to the Food Services office in Hillburn. The check amount will automatically be put into the child’s MySchoolBucks account. Non-participating students may continue to pay for their school meals as they have in the past. More information on MySchoolBucks.com will be included with other Food Service information in packets being sent home to families.
